Bringing Light to the Classroom

HOW DO YOU BUILD A CLASSROOM ON A “LOVE OF LEARNING” MODEL?

•Discussions, not lectures.

•Ask questions more, Give answers less. Let them ponder before receiving the answer—and celebrate any input they’re willing to give.

•Encourage different opinions and validate them all.

•Praise the work that is done, even if it’s less or different than what was expected.

•Ask for permission before giving criticism.

•Meet them where they’re at! Teach them the next step — regardless of what “grade level” is. Let go of unrealistic expectations (ANY expectation that would cause pressure, worry, stress).

These things will bring more JOY and LIGHT to the learning experience!
