

History/Dystopian Literature - (Friday)
10:00am-11:00am - Fall Semester will focus on historical fiction novels as well as some stories and poetry. We will cover a wide variety of place and time periods! Students get a chance to study deeper on chosen eras and present to the class. This class includes some instruction in essay writing.
Spring semester will be a special focus on dystopian literature and dictators in history! We will discuss at length “How Not to Rule the World” as we discuss novels, movies, documentaries and have student presentations.
Book List:
Fall semester - novels will be chosen by student vote, to cover an array of time periods.
Spring semester - Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, Red Scarf Girl, 1984 (I’ll give you a clean version) and some biographies TBA.
Films in spring include The Giver, Swing Kids, Bonhoeffer, and some documentaries.
